Oh wow, you know Sandra Oh!? How awesome! She’s a wonderful actress

Yes! She’s originally from Ottawa, Canada, where I’m from. Her parents are close friends with mine, too, and she invited me to Canada Day dinner/BBQ at her place in Hollywood. That? Is an act of kindness. She’s so hospitable… It hurts me so much when I see such rude things said about her, and I thought I’d only have that problem on the internet. Nope. Apparently my Korean host parents have shit to say about her, too. Yaaaaaaaayyyyy………

But she’s so gorgeous!

I agree. What makes her so beautiful is that she’s able to dress up, but also isn’t afraid to be herself and let loose. She just… exudes grace??? Even when she’s wearing baggy sweats and her hair is messy and huge, it makes her look so approachable, which is what she wants; she doesn’t want to be intimidating, she loves talking and learning about other people (when we went over to her place, all she wanted to talk about was the animation industry, and women in the industry, racial issues, sexism, etc). But of course, you’ve got this side of the Korean media which is all about exploiting young Korean women and making them conform to their standards of beauty, and it’s an incredibly messy thing to get into right now, but basically: from my experience, as a Korean woman, I’ve gotten a lot of flack for my looks, and it’s not only me! EVERY Korean girl I’ve befriended/met has had some sort of rude thing said to them about their appearances. No WONDER South Korea is the number one country for plastic surgery!!! :\ it upsets me so much, and I usually don’t talk about it too much, but when it does come up, I have to rant.

SORRY FOR TLDR :(
